In sports, I’ve often said, one of the saddest things to see is a professional athlete who stays in the game too long and doesn’t know when to quit. Hello, Tom Brady. His game Sunday was nothing short of pathetic. With all of his millions, his seven Super Bowl rings, it’s hard to look at the guy and not feel a tinge of sympathy. If only he had stayed retired maybe his marriage would have survived, his family still intact, but certainly his football accolades would have remained in orbit. Now, short of some miracle, when football fans think of Brady, they’ll remember this season and how lousy he performed on the field. Sad.

Yes, indeed, Hidalgo County can seem strange at times. Especially during election season. Dead people rising from the graves to vote by mail. That sort of thing. Hidalgo County has always been unique in that regard. Alive, dead, doesn’t matter, as long as people vote. That’s what really counts. Get out the vote.
