AMLO files complaint against Abbott for violating treaty it’s already violating

AMLO, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, inaugurated as the 58th President of Mexico on Dec. 1, 2018, will be in office until Sept. 30, 2024. Will the next president be better or worse, with regard to his view of Texas and the U.S., who knows. It’s hard to argue the fact that he has been hostile toward the U.S. since he’s been president. Everything is our fault. Mexico, as white as the driven snow. At least that’s how AMLO views the border and los Republican gringos who rule the state. To be fair, he and Biden don’t get along either.

County courthouse won’t be demolished

The good news is, contrary to a social media post made last Wednesday, the Hidalgo County Courthouse, currently stuck in limbo, doors locked, lights out, no foot traffic, won’t have to be demolished after all. Its foundation is indeed firm, said Hidalgo County Judge Richard Cortez last week. Contrary to the social media post, the new courthouse is not “sinking.”

Pharr pays attorney $400K to walk away

The Pharr City Commission voted unanimously last week to pay City Attorney Patricia Ann Rigney $400,000 to walk away quietly from the job she’s held for the past eight years, seven spent as an hourly employee with all the benefits afforded as a full-time employee (vacation pay, gas allowance, etc.). Clock in, clock out, attend city meetings, collect a check.
