Congressman Gonzalez announces $130 million in final Title I allocations for Rio Grande Valley school districts

WASHINGTON – Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) last week announced $130,332,854 in final federal funds for Fiscal Year 2021 (FY21) Title I allocations for Local Education Agencies (LEA) in the 15th District of Texas. The U.S. Department of Education has released the final formula allocations for these funds, which were preliminarily announced in January.

New bus stop service is launching in Hidalgo County this week

EDINBURG - On Thursday, July 15, Hidalgo County Precinct 4 is launching the first bus service in the unincorporated area of the county. Valley Metro Route 12 which begins in Weslaco at the STC Mid-Valley Campus and ending at UTRGV in Edinburg will offer county residents a flexible route with access to county resources from San Carlos.

Impaired Driver Enforcement

The McAllen Police Department, in partnership with the Texas Department of Transportation and other Hidalgo County Law Enforcement Agencies, has concluded the Impaired Driving Mobilization (IDM) Independence Day campaign, which ran from Friday June 25, 2021 until Sunday, July 11, 2021. The Independence Day IDM campaign was used to promote safe driving with its educational and enforcement efforts.
