With the COVID-19 pandemic being one of the most important issues that faced the United States in 2020, print and broadcast journalists in deep South Texas played all-important roles in warning and informing Rio Grande Valley residents about that contagious virus, which has reportedly killed more than 3,400 people in the four-county region.

PSJA School Board extends COVID-19 paid leave

PHARR - Since the COVID-19 pandemic started, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD has worked hard to ensure the safety of all students and staff. On Monday, Jan. 11, 2021, during the regularly scheduled board meeting, Superintendent Dr. Jorge L. Arredondo along with Board President Jorge Zambrano recommended the approval of a resolution to extend COVID-19 paid leave for all PSJA staff. The resolution was approved unanimously.
