Two weeks ago, in the Oct. 28 issue of The Advance, in an op/ed column, I wrote down my predictions of how the presidential election would turn out, and I was right and wrong at the same time. Biden won, but Trump didn’t lose by a landslide, and he won way more than five states. Texas stayed in the hands of the GOP, so I was wrong in that prediction as well.

Hidalgo County health officials report eight more deaths and 147 new cases related to COVID-19 in Hidalgo County

EDINBURG – Health officials reported eight more deaths and 147 new positive cases related to COVID-19 on Monday, Hidalgo County Judge Richard F. Cortez said Tuesday. There are now a total of 1,989 recorded deaths related to the outbreak of this disease and 37,031 known positive cases.

CBP seizes over $3 million worth of hard narcotics

HIDALGO — U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations (OFO) at the Hidalgo International Bridge confiscated $3,410,500 worth of alleged cocaine and methamphetamine in two separate, unrelated incidents this past weekend and arrested two persons in the process.
