Senator Hinojosa announces funding for New TXDOT projects in Pharr district

AUSTIN — The Texas Transportation Commission (Commission) approved more than $135.7 million in new authorization for construction projects in Hidalgo County as well as $23.1 million in funding adjustments for previously approved projects. The Commission also approved $30.7 million in increased funding for a total of $88.9 million to upgrade US 281 in southern Brooks County to interstate standards. The projects are included in the Texas Department of Transportation's (TxDOT) 2021 Unified Transportation Program (UTP) adopted unanimously by the Commission earlier today. The UTP includes all transportation projects that TxDOT is developing for construction over the next ten years and guides the development of those projects.

McAllen Dev. Corp., Inc. Provides Funding to AHSTI for Mortgage/ Rent, Utility Assistance

McALLEN - Affordable Homes of South Texas, Inc. (AHSTI) has partnered with the City of McAllen to launch the Mortgage/Rent/ Utility Assistance Program to assist households that have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. This program will provide financial assistance for the City of McAllen residents affected by COVID-19 for up to six months. The goal is to establish or maintain affordable and stable housing and reduce the risk of homelessness for eligible applicants.

Hidalgo County Precinct 4 receives $1.2M Texas Parks and Wildlife Department grant

EDINBURG – Hidalgo County will receive a $1,223,357 urban outdoor grant for the Sunflower Memorial Park project located in Hidalgo County Precinct 4. The Hidalgo County grant, submitted by Precinct 4 Commissioner Ellie Torres and her staff, ranked 1st in scoring and ranking. Proposed developments include an inclusive playground, splash pad, exercise stations, ballfields, basketball court, soccer field, picnic facilities, pavilion, site furnishings, shade structures, lighted walking trails, a parking lot and other support facilities.
