PHARR — Last week, the City of Pharr partnered with Vanguard Academy, the Food Bank RGV, Walmart, and the Collaborative for Fresh Produce to fight summer hunger and help families in need. Working together, the partners distributed food for 1,000 students and families in Pharr.

McALLEN — As the City of McAllen continues to move forward with the Bicentennial Boulevard road extension project, construction of the roadway intersection of Frontera Road and Bicentennial Boulevard will cause a road closure along Frontera Road.
McALLEN — For a short window of time, violators of traffic laws who failed to show up for their day in court will now have an opportunity to do so: without fear of being arrested or any additional fines. For a period of six weeks, starting on Monday, June 15, 2020 and continuing through Friday, July 31, 2020, the City of McAllen Municipal Court will offer a Failure to Appear Amnesty Program. This year, the amnesty is being held earlier in the year, in light of the circumstances surrounding COVID-19 and the need to stay at home.
EDINBURG — Three more people with underlying medical conditions, all residents of Pharr, died Monday from COVID-19 complications, Hidalgo County Judge Richard F. Cortez said. There are now 15 people who have died because of this destructive COVID-19 virus since they tested positive in Hidalgo County.
