No ‘Ifs’ Among Believers

They say practice makes perfect. My Spanish, like my faith, then, must be exceptions to this rule. There are times I struggle with each; however, every so often I hit a groove and achieve a greater insight or, at least, expand my vocabulary. Not too long ago, I managed to learn en español the ingredients of a popular dish in Spain called paella. (How this will help me in ministry…well, God hasn’t revealed this to me yet.) There’s a cadence and color to the items on this list of ingredients in spoken Spanish; the last one caught both my eye and my ear: Los ingredientes que necesitamos para hacer una paella son los tomates, los guisantes, el pimiento verde, la cebolla, el arroz, los mariscos, el pollo, los chorizos y el azafrán.
