McAllen Reaches Halfway Point in Response Rate to 2020 Census

McALLEN – Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, McAllen households found a productive way to spend their time at home, self-responding to the 2020 Census, either online or over the phone, propelling the city to reach a very important milestone: 50% of households in McAllen have self-responded to the 2020 Census since March 12, when the Census self-response online link became available. In 2010, the response rate for McAllen was 65.6%.

Mobile COVID-19 Testing Site in Hidalgo County

McALLEN – Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX- 15) announced the location of a mobile COVID-19 testing site in Hidalgo County in the 15th District of Texas. Testing will began Tuesday, May 19.

Eight more test positive for COVID-19 in Hidalgo County

EDINBURG – As the number of people overall who have been tested in Hidalgo County surpassed the 7,000 mark, an additional eight people in Hidalgo County tested positive for COVID-19, Hidalgo County Judge Richard F. Cortez said Monday. This brings the total number of known cases of the virus to 448.

Pharr Fire Dept. and Emergency Management Assist with SPI Fire

PHARR – The City of Pharr Fire Department and Emergency Management personnel answered the call of duty to assist with a massive fire that broke out early Saturday morning at the Gulf Point condominium building at South Padre Island. This has been one of the largest fires on the island and Pharr joined dozens of other firefighters from throughout the Rio Grande Valley in battling the fire.
