Each episode follows investigative genetic genealogist Cece Moore, who first used her skills to trace down long-lost family members as a hobby. She uses those techniques to help law enforcement solve cold cases, many of which have gone decades without any leads. In the season finale, the victim of a sexual assault was a 79- year old woman and the case was only three weeks old when Moore was called in. By the end of the episode, they had found the perpetrator.
