EDINBURG – As the number of people overall who have been tested in Hidalgo County surpassed the 6,000 mark, an additional five people in Hidalgo County tested positive for COVID-19, Hidalgo County Judge Richard F. Cortez said Monday.
WASHINGTON – ,Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) announced $151,582,672.50 for Hidalgo County from the Coronavirus, Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act Coronavirus Relief Fund. The federal funding is required to be spent on expenditures incurred due to the public health emergency from the COVID-19 pandemic.

AUSTIN – Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts $824.1 million in local sales tax allocations for May, 5 percent less than in May 2019. These allocations are based on sales made in March by businesses that report tax monthly, and sales made in January, February and March by quarterly filers.
EDINBURG – Border Patrol agents seized marijuana in several failed smuggling attempts, one involving a motorcycle floated across the Rio Grande. The three seizures netted more than $390K worth of marijuana.
