With the recent allegations coming out of McAllen ISD, my sources say they’re true, I was thinking of some special Valentine’s Day cards (e-cards) for district employees who may already be in a relationship with a school colleague. Or for one who has gone the extra mile and recorded a sexual act in a district office and/or Central Office restroom (don’t ask).
There’s this oddity in Hidalgo County — okay, one of many. We have a current unemployment rate of 6.8 percent, according to county data, compared to approximately 16.1 in late May 2020, when COVID was really starting to kick us in the... Yet, there are still so many businesses I visit that have “Help Wanted” signs taped to their respective front doors.
It’s Tuesday (you’re thinking, who cares?), and I have to say, I’m beat. I have more stories to write, at least one more column, but I have to admit defeat. This Observations Column is the last thing I can write for this week’s Advance. I’m tapped out. My energy sources depleted. You get the idea.
I recently heard one of the saddest stories, even though I don’t know the complete story because all of the evidence against the accused hasn’t yet been made public, but here’s the lowdown so far from what I’ve heard.
