In September 1968, the Broncs from Pan American College were ready to compete at the next level in sports. They refused to cling to the status quo and thus, changed the landscape for a new era in sports.
UTRGV (16-12, 12-7) may have clinched a spot in the SLC tourney but they still have some games to tighten up any loose ends. On Saturday, the Vaqueros bested the Southeastern Louisiana Lions by the score of 96-75. The orange squad was well-balanced on offense as five players scored in double figures. Both Koree Cotton and Filip Brankovic led the team in scoring with 18 points apiece. Followed by Marvin McGhee III with 17, and Dane Christensen and Jaylen Washington with 12 and 10, respectively.
The second round of the high school basketball playoffs for the girls’ teams has officially concluded this past week.
The UTRGV Vaqueros (17-11, 14-5) had themselves a bit of a road trip to Louisiana as they played two teams in the Southland Conference. Although they dropped the Thursday game against first place McNeese State, they found their groove on Saturday by defeating the Southeastern Louisiana Lions, 77-54.
