Edinburg College opened its doors for students in 1927—it was also the same year that the school started competing in sports. According to an old-timer, the name of the mascot, “Broncs,” was chosen by one of the coaches who came from Southern Methodist University, known as the Mustangs. So, Broncs was an obvious choice.
I’m a longtime Green Bay fan, so I can relate to fans of the teams, like the UT Longhorns varsity football program, who usually come up short, leaving you with a heartburn. Since I no longer follow football, though, or few sports at all to be honest, save professional billiards, Formula 1, and bull riding, who wins or loses a football game no longer bothers me.
