It is inevitable as a parent or grandparent that your grandson/granddaughter will one day join the ranks of tee-ballers. When that happens, your involvement in the game will no longer be at a distance. You’ll find yourself edging closer toward the white lines in hopes of making a difference in his/her pursuit of America’s game.
This Thursday begins The Open at St. Andrew’s Old Course, the home of golf. Sometimes referred to as The British Open, most serious golfers simply refer to the tournament as The Open.
I don’t know what it is about football, but for me, the quarterback slot has always needed a cool cat to step up to play that position. Keep in mind, my football hero in 1969 was Joe Namath who was a player both on and off the field.
Have you noticed lately that what gets branded as “comedy” is no longer funny? Doesn’t matter if it’s a TV show, a movie, or a stand-up routine. I find very little to laugh at anymore. Political speeches at the state and national levels crack me up more. Total BS, and people are buying it? From both sides of the political aisle. Hilarious. In the circles of so-called entertainment, though, there is little comedy in sight.
