The Moody Foundation recently awarded Valley Initiative for Development and Advancement (VIDA) a grant of $125,000. The grant aims to assist VIDA in providing job retraining and education that will address job loss in the Rio Grande Valley due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
PHARR - Congratulations to the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo (PSJA) ISD Theatre groups who advanced to the UIL Young Filmmaker’s Festival State competition. Three of the six UIL State Finalists in the Documentary category are PSJA ISD films. They competed in the Virtual State Meet Ceremony on Friday, March 12.
Too many of my old friends are dying. Two have died so far this year, and it’s only March. Can’t wait for April. That’s on the heels of last year, when I lost more old friends than I can recall, including one who was 10 years younger; the salt-ofthe-earth kind of guy.
This week two new volunteers are trying out for the position of writer of this article, Zeke the dog, and Sunkist the cat. This is a first effort for each of them, so, without further ado -- here they are:
PHARR - The Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD (PSJA ISD) Communications Department received various State awards from the Texas School Public Relations Association (TSPRA) for their outstanding work in School Public Relations and Marketing. The awards were announced at TSPRA’s Annual Star Awards Celebration held February 24, 2021 in Denton, during the Association’s 59th Annual Conference.
