McALLEN -- The City of McAllen Purchasing Department has once again earned the Annual Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award. The Achievement of Excellence in Procurement recognizes organizational excellence in public and non-profit procurement. The City of McAllen Purchasing Department received this award back in 2018 and in 2019.

Learn about the traditional elements of an altar with “Create a Día de los Muertos Home Altar” presentation featuring museum staff René Ballesteros and Anna Garrigos-Hervert at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, on Facebook Live. This presentation is in partnership with Día de los Muertos: Los Muertos Bailan, a two-week program hosted by the City of Edinburg and Museum of South Texas History.
PHARR – Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Independent School District (PSJA ISD) alumna, Irma Alvarado, was recently recognized for being one of the first known Hispanic female graduates of Texas A&M University and for paving the way for other graduates. Alvarado was recently featured in a “Beyond the Books” panel by the nonprofit Aggie Women.
PHARR – The Texas Music Educators Association hosted its annual jazz band competition over the weekend, where 13 PSJA students earned a spot in the All-Region Jazz Band, and four advanced to the Area contest.
