PHARR – Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Independent School District (PSJA ISD) alumna, Irma Alvarado, was recently recognized for being one of the first known Hispanic female graduates of Texas A&M University and for paving the way for other graduates. Alvarado was recently featured in a “Beyond the Books” panel by the nonprofit Aggie Women.
PHARR – The Texas Music Educators Association hosted its annual jazz band competition over the weekend, where 13 PSJA students earned a spot in the All-Region Jazz Band, and four advanced to the Area contest.
This Halloween season, Cinderella is happy to present a big dog who only looks scary and a cat who’s the polar opposite of the traditional black cat normally identified with the season. Either of these great animals will make a wonderful pet for many years to come.
MCALLEN – In welding, about the only thing you can’t fabricate is experience. So when South Texas College faculty member Richard Ingram received exclusive designation as a Certified Welding Inspector this summer, it was an achievement built on heavy mettle.
In an effort to support small businesses in the Rio Grande Valley Cosmos Workspace is hosting a three month (October, November & December) Holiday Sip ‘n’ Shop for a cause starting this Thursday and Friday October 22nd & 23rd from 2pm – 6pm. Cosmos Workspace will host the event with various resident artists, arts & crafts small business vendors, a licensed massage therapist offering complimentary mimosas and a silent auction benefiting CASA.
