Poor mailman; heat indexes above 103 degrees considered dangerous for some

Did you hear about the poor Dallas-area mailman last week? He was 66, had been delivering mail for 40 years, probably getting ready to take it easy because the eight-mile daily walk was getting more draining each summer (conjecture), and then wham, last Tuesday morning, he collapses in the yard of a home along his route. The temperature index that afternoon was approximately 115. The mailman, Eugene Gates, Jr., was pronounced dead, and as of this early part of the week, no official cause of death has been named, although so-called heat stroke has been named the suspected culprit by multiple sources.
