Special to the Advance PHARR — The Pharr Economic Development Corporation (EDC) is proud to announce the launch of its new Small Business Grant. The Pharr EDC II Small Business Grant program offers small and emerging for-profit businesses grant assistance to establish or expand into the City of Pharr to support long-term success.
The Advance (a sentient newspaper) just found out that one of its old friends, Jack Cawood of Action Realty, died earlier this year at the blessed age of 92, a month shy of turning 93.

Special to the Advance McALLEN — McAllen Public Library will host its second annual Community Family Health Fair on Saturday, March 25, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Main Library, located at 4001 N. 23rd St. Attendees are invited to take advantage of free health screenings, such as blood pressure checks, BMI testing, diabetes screening, and hearing screening. Also, Easter Seals will provide children’s developmental screenings.
