6th Annual “Purple Day” virtual press conference

EDINBURG – The Hidalgo County Criminal District Attorney’s Office, in collaboration with the Texas Council on Family Violence, the Justice Alert Technology and Mujeres Unidas, will commemorate Domestic Violence Awareness Month with the 6th Annual “Purple Day” virtual press conference on Thursday, Oct. 1, from 10 a.m. to noon. (Central Time).

Edinburg PD arrests murder suspect

EDINBURG - On September 16, 2020 Edinburg resident 35-year-old Lucinda Diaz was arrested and charged with murder following the investigation for the suspicious death of her husband, 31 year old Craig Chastain. On September 5th, 2020 at approximately 9:28 p.m Edinburg police responded to The Village apartments at 5228 S. Sugar Rd in reference to a reported suicide attempt. When officers arrived on scene they observed Chastain unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the back of the head. Diaz was escorted to the Edinburg police department where she voluntarily came to provide her account of what happened.

CBP seizes $6.6 million in hard narcotics at Hidalgo and Pharr Bridges

PHARR - U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations (OFO) at the Pharr International Bridge cargo facility intercepted a load of hard narcotics consisting of alleged methamphetamine and heroin that was concealed within a commercial shipment of produce arriving from Mexico. CBP officers also detected methamphetamine on a man attempting to enter the United States walking from Mexico. The combined estimated street value of both seizures is $6,670,500.
