AUSTIN – At the direction of Governor Greg Abbott, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is announcing Saturday appointment availability through the end of the year. Many driver license (DL) officesacross the state will be offering Saturday appointments for customers needing to renew or replace their Texas DL or ID cards only.
EDINBURG - On September 16, 2020 Edinburg resident 35-year-old Lucinda Diaz was arrested and charged with murder following the investigation for the suspicious death of her husband, 31 year old Craig Chastain. On September 5th, 2020 at approximately 9:28 p.m Edinburg police responded to The Village apartments at 5228 S. Sugar Rd in reference to a reported suicide attempt. When officers arrived on scene they observed Chastain unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the back of the head. Diaz was escorted to the Edinburg police department where she voluntarily came to provide her account of what happened.
EDINBURG — The Edinburg Police Department has received several calls recently in reference to citizens being scammed of their money. The Edinburg Police Department wants to educate the public on this scam and urge them to watch out for the red flags that they are being scammed.
PHARR - U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations (OFO) at the Pharr International Bridge cargo facility intercepted a load of hard narcotics consisting of alleged methamphetamine and heroin that was concealed within a commercial shipment of produce arriving from Mexico. CBP officers also detected methamphetamine on a man attempting to enter the United States walking from Mexico. The combined estimated street value of both seizures is $6,670,500.
