City of McAllen Asst. Attorney Recognized by International Municipal Industry Organization

On Tuesday, September 29, 2020, at the International Municipal Lawyers Association Virtual Conference, IMLA will recognize Victor A. Flores of the McAllen’ City Attorney’s Office as being one of only two recipients of the Daniel J. Curtain Young Public Lawyer award. Named in honor of Curtin, the award recognizes young attorneys who aside from exhibiting traditional qualities of excellence the practice of law, the award seeks to recognize a public law practitioner who has provided outstanding service to the public and who possesses an exemplary reputation in the legal community, the highest of ethical standards and who revels in maintaining a life that balances a passion for professional excellence and the joy of family and friends.

Hair salon owner beats COVID and loss of business revenue

Delia Gonzalez has owned Complements Hair Salon in Pharr for the past 25 years and prior to that, worked for another hair salon for 14 years. After 39 years of cutting and styling hair, listening to the countless stories her customers tell her day in and day out – some happy, some sad, some tragic – Gonzalez thought she’d seen or heard pretty much all that life had to offer. 

McAllen Municipal Court Amnesty extended again until October 31, 2020

Violators of traffic laws who failed to show up for their day in court will now have even additional time to make arrangements to take care of their tickets without fear of being arrested or receiving any additional fines. The City of McAllen’s Municipal Court Failure to Appear Amnesty Program has been extended once again to October 31, 2020. This year, the amnesty is being extended due to circumstances surrounding COVID-19 and the need to stay at home.
