“Take my yoke upon you...”

I think I have a new favorite tv show! A one-hour whodunit that combines genealogy with Columbo. The Genetic Detective premiered on ABC and just finished a 6-week run last month. Each episode follows investigative genetic genealogist Cece Moore, who first used her skills to trace down long-lost family members as a hobby. She uses those techniques to help law enforcement solve cold cases, many of which have gone decades without any leads. In the season finale, the victim of a sexual assault was a 79- year old woman and the case was only three weeks old when Moore was called in. By the end of the episode, they had found the perpetrator.

Remote learning at all schools until after September 27, 2020

EDINBURG – Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Ivan Melendez, in his capacity as the Hidalgo County Local Health Authority, issued an order that all public and private schools, from grades pre-kindergarten through grade 12, will not reopen for in-campus instruction until after September 27, 2020. The order was signed and issued on Tuesday, July 14, 2020.

IDEA Charter’s CFO resigns

Approximately three months after parting ways with IDEA Public (Charter) Schools’ former CEO Tom Torkelson, paying him $900,000 as a parting gift (AKA, CEO Transition Plan Agreement), another high-level administrator has said goodbye. Namely, the charter operator’s CFO (Chief Financial Officer) Wyatt Truscheit. Dave Hendricks with KRGV-TV broke the story last week after gaining access to an email sent to IDEA employees July 16.
