Willie Nelson, God bless him, who turned 89 this year and is still playing concerts, once said something that struck me as profound. It was back when Willie’s old friend, the legendary blind pianist and song writer Ray Charles, died in 2004, so Willie would have been 71 at the time.

Last quarter we had almost a full percentage point drop in gross national product. That followed a similar drop in the spring quarter. Technically, therefore, the United States is in recession. The president, however, stepped in quickly and solved the problem by redefining what constitutes a recession. He's good at that. Look at how effortlessly he redefined the border crisis by asserting we were firmly in control of our borders.

The Texas Department of State Health Services has received and distributed 14,780 doses of the monkey pox vaccine to local health departments and DSHS regional offices. Another 27,000 doses could be made available by the Strategic National Stockpile.
