The Church of the Empty Tomb

Lent, Holy Week, Easter Sunday. They all make me think about what great lengths churches go to these days in order to make themselves more familiar, even more relevant in today’s world. My own church tries to make use of available means to share God’s love and cultivate community awareness, such as technology (live-streams and podcast), billboards, newspaper ads, info card displays in local businesses, and even a biweekly column such as this. And if you’ve found our podcast (Fear or Faith?), you know we’re trying to reach out to English-, Spanish-, and Russian-speakers. But I have to say it’s a struggle in this devil-may-care, you-do-you culture where people don’t really know what they’re looking for...or looking for in a church.

The annual fees are still in the $5 billion range and now they are facing a massive problem.
