Last week, The Wall Street Journal published a story that carried this cheery lead paragraph: “Hundreds of thousands of migrants from all over the world are making their way to the Southwest border, with U.S. and Mexican authorities reporting a surge in apprehensions of people from Asia and Africa as human smuggling networks widen their search across the globe.”

The United States has called on Israel to pause its offensive to allow foreigners to leave Gaza and Palestinians to receive aid. In response, Israel has stated that it will pause its attack only if Hamas releases all hostages.
