The Native Plant Gardening workshop, presented by the Center for Urban Ecology, introduces how and why participants can use local plants for beautiful and wildlife-friendly gardens. Visit Quinta Mazatlan on Saturday from 3 to 4 p.m. to learn more about the native plants of the Rio Grande Valley, which ones attract different wildlife, and why they are important to wildlife while also benefiting people.
Oji is a great big beautiful husky, weighing about 55 pounds, while Butler is a charming little cat wearing a tuxedo, as if he’s ready to serve at a formal dinner party.
The Museum of South Texas History will host the Sunday Speaker Series presentation, “Los dichos o refranes en la imaginaria popular del noreste de México,” featuring historian José María García Báez at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
