HUB City Toastmasters meets each Wednesday at the Pharr Memorial Library, 121 E. Cherokee, second floor, from noon until 1 p.m. Visitors are welcome.
The Big Squeeze returns for its 19th season, and the City of Edinburg is set to host the highly anticipated semi-finals on Saturday, April 26, 2025. This premier youth accordion competition, presented by Texas Folklife, will bring together talented young musicians from across the state to celebrate Texas’ rich musical heritage.

Candy Canine earned her name by being a super-sweet, affectionate girl who loves getting attention from humans. She was born in April 2022, and is still under the influence of the exuberance of youth, but past the sometimes-trying puppy stage. At 38 pounds, she’s a tad large to be a lap dog, unless you have a big lap with a heart to match. She’s not too big and not too small. Goldilocks (and perhaps you) would say that she’s “just right”. She has lots of doggie buddies and enjoys playing and roughhousing with them and splashing around in her doggie pool. She’s an active girl who will sometimes just dash around the yard for the pure joy of being alive. Candy is the sort of dog who will be a great full-time companion to a single person or a family who will shower her with attention and love.
