SAN JUAN — Thousands of community members of all ages received free medical, dental, and vision services during Operation Border Health Preparedness (OBHP) held at PSJA Early College High School and various Rio Grande Valley counties July 24-28.
Following a pair of reports of school violence threats in the City of Edinburg within the last week, the Edinburg Police Department is reminding the community of the severity of the consequences related to making such threats.
For the second consecutive year, the McAllen ISD Lamar Academy Mock Trial Team out-motioned and out-argued their opponents to take home top honors in the Region One Annual Mock Trial Competition held on January 28, 2023, at the Hidalgo County Courthouse. Sharyland High School and Sharyland Pioneer High School captured second and third place, respectively. The top two teams will advance to the state level competition to be held March 3-4 in Dallas.
Three Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD (PSJA ISD) Mariachi groups earned Division One ratings at the UIL Mariachi Contest held January 21, 2023, at the La Joya Performing Arts Center, advancing to the State Mariachi competition to be held Feb. 25–26.
— The United Way Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is now offering free tax preparation assistance services at two locations at Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD (PSJA ISD) for families earning less than $60,000 a year. This assistance will continue until April 2023.
