ALTON — Hidalgo County Precinct 3 Commissioner Everardo “Ever” Villarreal, in conjunction with City of Alton Fire Department and the Hidalgo County Urban County Program, hosted a push-in ceremony for a new fire truck on March 31 at the Alton Fire Department.
The Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District and The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley announced a “Historic partnership” to found a collegiate high school in Edinburg that will provide students in the district with the opportunity to receive up to 60 university credits toward a Bachelor of Science degree while attending the new UTRGV-ECISD Collegiate High School.
It was common during the early 1900s that everything stopped when the circus came to town. Men, women, children, and businessmen who would close their shops lined the unpaved streets of that era to get a glimpse of the big top as it paraded down main street.
