PHARR — The City of Pharr held its annual State of the City Address-themed “Together We Can Win” on Jan. 20th at the Pharr Natatorium located on 3001 B. Cage Blvd. in Pharr. The event was hosted by actor and Rio Grande Valley native Joseph T. Campos. This year’s theme paid homage to the collaborative approach Team Pharr uses as they continue to move the community forward through new projects, partnerships, and programs.

Program helps owners with past-due property taxes, mortgage payments

Certain Hidalgo County homeowners may soon be eligible for up to $25,000 in past due property taxes and $40,000 in past due mortgage payments under a pilot program targeting people who experienced financial hardships because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hidalgo County to hold auction for merchandise, equipment, more

Hidalgo County will hold a Webcast Auction of general merchandise, fleet, heavy equipment, and court awarded vehicles by AMT Auctions at Palmer Pavilion (301 E. Hackberry, McAllen TX 78501) and San Carlos Community Resource Center (134 N. 86th St, Edinburg, TX 78542) on Tuesday, Jan. 25.

Comptroller Glenn Hegar distributes $993 million in monthly sales tax revenue to cities

AUSTIN — Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts $992.9 million in local sales tax allocations for January, 26.8% more than in January 2021. These allocations are based on sales made in November by businesses that report tax monthly.
