Just a quick shout-out to the Hidalgo County judge and county commissioners for naming Hidalgo County Elections Department Assistant Director Hilda Salinas interim director following the Sept. 9 retirement of longtime Director Yvonne Ramon.

Catchy, fun, upbeat headline, no?

The investigation of Jan. 6th is fatally flawed. A committee totally selected by one party is simply not equipped to determine facts and weigh evidence when that evidence includes actions by a full spectrum of individuals. If the Republicans win a majority in either chamber in the upcoming election, therefore, they need to choose Republican committee members and permit Democrats to likewise select a reasonable number from the minority party in order to conduct a thorough and comprehensive investigation. There are important questions that still need to be answered.
