Us vs. Them still going strong
“Only a Pawn in Their Game” is another Bob Dylan song that forever stands the test of time, as so many of them do, but its relevance today – approximately 60 years after the song was written -- is amazing considering what is going on presently in the state, the nation, and the world.

The Commitment to America
Twenty-seven years ago I was the fifth person to sign the Contract with America. In due course all the Republican congressmen and congressional candidates signed up on the steps of the U.S. Capitol. We basically declared what we promised to do if elected (and in doing so nationalized the congressional races). As a result Republicans became the majority party in Congress for the first time in decades. No, I didn’t win in the Valley, but the 42% or 43% I received was respectable and opened the door for others to run in following years. Now there is another (new) Contract being signed known as The Commitment to America. It answers the Democrat charge that Republicans are critics devoid of solutions. This new commitment looks at the various disasters Democrats have spawned in the past two years and proposes action to remedy each problem.
