Who’s Got the Power?
Democrat governor of New York, Andrew Cuomo, has recently become a big fan of the U. S. Constitution’s Tenth Amendment. He’s in a huge fight with the President as to who has the authority to open up the country. I notice, though, that neither side has quoted the whole amendment. Cuomo is adamant that all powers not specifically delegated to the federal government are retained by the states. That’s all well and good, but the last four words in the amendment cast a whole new light on the issue. Those words are: “or by the people.” No, Donald Trump is not a king. But neither is Andrew Cuomo. The people’s voice counts for something and needs to be heard.
