A local daily newspaper with which The Advance has a professional relationship, The Monitor, may be in a legal bind, thanks to a story published Feb. 10, 2022, written by reporter Valerie Gonzalez, which carried the headline:
Usually Republicans have an easy time in the primaries. There are a limited number of up-ballot candidates and a bunch of unopposed down ballot candidates.
Early voting for the March 1 primary ends Friday. Initial reports indicate turnout has been low, as is traditional in midterm primary elections, with less than a fourth of registered voters going to the polls most years.
China Uncensored (on YouTube) is a news source you can’t afford to miss when it comes to understanding communist China. In addition, they display an ironic sense of humor in their coverage. They note, for example, that the current winter Olympics is the first in history not to have even a single flake of real snow — because the Chinese built the venue on an abandoned industrial site rather than finding a suitable mountain location — like everyone else has done. China Uncensored makes fun of the organizers by issuing a Made in America T-shirt which reads “Fake snow. Real Genocide.” Those organizers, incidentally, froze and then crushed over a million cubic meters of ice just to get the games started on day one.
